Build a Shed

A shed is useful to solve many storage needs for outdoor equipment and tools; if you have project that can't be made in a garage, the shed is the ideal place to work. A shed is simple to build; if you need a more sophisticated shed, you should ask a handyman help. A shed can be simply built on piers, or on the ground replacing the beams with skids of pressure treated lumber; it is possible to build your shed on concrete fence posts.

Try to find a flat and level area to build your shed.Install nine deck piers; attach three to piers and attach 10 joists to rim joists resting on the three beams. Install blocking between joists, seven at 14" and two outside. Cover joists with two sheets of plywood and two sheets of plywood. Nail the outside edge of the plywood pieces every 6" and the inside joists every 12". Build 4 stud walls; build in the order indicated on the shed's plan. It is easiest to nail the wall together on the floor then raise and brace then until all walls are completed. Follow the supplier's plan for every wall. Install the roof and apply mineral coated tarpaper to roof. Start at the lower end of the roof and use roofing nails along upper of sheet and sides, glue the bottom to the sheet below it. Never nail upper sheet to lower sheet. Nail at 6" interval only.

Remember that usually all framing must be nailed with 16d nails and all sheeting must be attached with 8d nails. To finish the interior, add an addition stud in each corner for a mailing surface. You can replace the stairs with a ramp to move wheeled equipment in and out of your shed. To improve your light in the shed interior, you may install a corrugated fiberglass roof. If you manage to install a garden shed that blend with the main house style you will increase inexpensively the value of your home, staying within a budget.

Near every home, a supplementary storage space and one of the best ways to find it is to build a shed; a beautiful garden storage shed is large enough for your garden and storage needs. It can be also a children's playroom. If you choose double doors, it will be easier to access the space.

It is no easy to find how much will cost you to build a shed; before starting construction, take your plans and make an accurate estimation because prices fluctuate and vary widely from one region or country to another. Never forget that a building must start from the foundation and solid concrete blocks are the best choice. Ensure that the concrete foundation blocks are level; the floor frames parts must be from pressure treated lumber.

Don't forget to secure perforated hardboard to the partition wall in the tool storage zone. Install the windows and the doors to suit your needs; make the windows by a simple operation: assemble a wood frame to hold a piece of glass.
